It is an honor and privilege to be appointed as Mayor of Falls City by our City Council. As your Mayor I look forward to representing and leading our citizens and our city as we move forward on our council goals and projects. I also look forward to building strong relationships with all of our citizens and our local businesses. I will be transparent with you on decisions of the council and will work to meet the needs of our city.”

 

Mayor Bailey was appointed to city council in January of 2020 before being elected in November of 2020. Mayor Bailey was elected Council President in January of 2021. In July of 2021, Mayor Bailey was appointed by city council to fill the seat of Mayor when former Mayor, Jeremy Gordon, was appointed Polk County Commissioner.

 

Mayor Bailey moved  to Falls City in February of 2018. However, he spent over 10 years volunteering at local sporting events as his wife has been a teacher for Falls City School District for 15 years. Mayor Bailey has spent many hours volunteering for the city during clean up days, helping with Thanksgiving Dinner, taking food and clothing to citizens during emergencies, participating on our city’s Parks and Recreation Committee, and working on youth initiatives.

 

Mayor Bailey is spear-heading the youth driven River’s Edge Skateboard Project. This project will provide a multi-purpose skate park for our youth in hopes of providing a safe environment for recreational activities. Mayor Bailey launched “Bitty Ball” basketball for K-5th grade students to teach basketball skills to our elementary students.

 

Mayor Bailey grew up in a small Eastern Oregon town of 950 so he shares our same “small town values”. He is a 5th generation Oregonian. He has been an educator for over 20 years at the middle and high school level. He is a graduate of Western Oregon University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Health Education while playing football for the Wolves. He later went back to WOU to earn his teaching credentials. Mayor Bailey earned his Master’s Degree in Special Education at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. As an educator, Mayor Bailey has coached many high school sports including football, basketball, baseball and softball at the varsity level including one year at Falls City High School.

 

Mayor Bailey is married to Lynn Bailey, a teacher of 15 plus years at Falls City. They have been married for 23 years. They have two children. Xander Bailey (21),an Educational Assistant at Falls City Elementary school, and Delilah Bailey (10) a 4th grade student at FCES.
